I play on a 3C bach trumpet mouthpiece would it be good to switch to a gold bach 3D & will it help my range? - bach trumpet
I played since the 6th Class and I'm currently playing at the high school freshman in a size 3C. I think the transition to a 3D format, but Bach mouthpiece. I wonder if I should change, and help 3D, change my rank?

The only thing that will truly help range is practicing the proper playing technique and utilizing faster air with your abs - not your lips. Most trumpet players start pinching their lips to make the air speed up, this causes the sound to pinch (become weak) and eventually shut off either by closing down the aperture completely or by stiffening up the lip so much that it won't vibrate any longer.
A slightly shallower cup will aid in getting the air speed up, but it's not going to be the magic bullet you're looking for.
