Research suggests 2 options for the type of foundation and depth. (1) 6 "deep concrete footer - 48" below the ground by frost or (2) 6 "deep compacted gravel, 6" below ground. Desire to limit the excavation, but do not want to breathe on the wall during cycles of freezing / thawing.

I live in Texas and jelly department is not a problem, but I think that would be sufficient 6 inches under the ground, I went with lower reinforcing further assistance. Good luck
